GMC Sierra Crew Cab SLE Pickup Is Worth Test Driving

September 1st, 2011

Someone once told me that if you’ve ever driven a pickup, that’s pretty much the way all trucks drive.
Apparently, they’ve never driven the 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab SLE heavy-duty pickup. I had that pleasure for seven scintillating days.
The all-new Sierra offers innovative comfort and convenience technologies, while the steering and suspension have been upgraded to deliver an improved ride and handling.
I could maneuver this big body on a dime and with a rear vision camera system combined with rear parking sonar, park the Sierra in the tightest spots.
The latest Sierra provides a long list of safety and security features, including head curtain side air bags with rollover protection, dual stage driver and front passenger air bags with passenger sensing system and seat-mounted side-impact air bags for driver and front passenger.
In fact, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the Sierra a five-star rating in the side front seat and crash rear seat categories. Four stars were awarded in the frontal driver, crash passenger and rollover categories.
Exterior highlights include a chrome rear bumper, 20-inch chrome clad wheels, bodyside moldings, chrome surround grille, cargo box illumination and solar-ray deep-tinted glass.
Interior amenities include air conditioning, power windows and locks, illuminated vanity mirrors, intermittent windshield wipers, six-gauge dashboard cluster with tachometer and driver information center display.
Four full-sized doors make for easy entrance and exit. Six full-sized adults can ride comfortably in the Sierra and the stereo system sounds like you’re seated in a symphony hall.
I’m not one that is easily impressed, but the 2011 GMC Sierra has a lot working in its favor.
If you’re a truck person, give the new Sierra a test drive soon.
